Mysore Palace

The most epic place which any tourist visiting Mysore don’t want miss out is the Mysore palace. Mysore palace also known as the Amba Vilas palace was the official residence of the Wodeyars. Chamundhi Hills

Chamundhi hill is a prominent landmark of Mysore city, which is visible from anywhere in the city. The hilltop is the place where the Goddess Chamundeshwari shrine is located. Atop the hill, one can also find a statue of Mahishasura with a big moustache, holding a cobra in the left hand and sword in the right hand. Another main attraction of the hill is 5 meter tall Nandi statue, a third largest Nandi in India.

Brindavan Gardens

Brindavan Garden, is one of the main attractions of Mysore tourism. This garden lies adjoining to the Krishna Raja Sagar dam that is constructed across Kaveri river. It is spread across 600 acres of area and is divided into four areas such as main gate, North Brindavan, South Brindavan and the kid’s garden. The three terraced gardens has a variety of flora like celosia, marigolds and bougainvilleas. Another main attraction of the garden is Musical fountain, where one can enjoy a choreographed play of water bursts that is synchronised with tunes of songs.

Mysore Zoo

This place is the major tourist attractive place and is filled with visitors throughout the year. This oldest zoo in India is spread over 157 Acres and more than 168 species are available to see. It was created by a Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar and was opened to the public in 1902.

St. Philomena’s Church

It is also know as St. Joseph’s Cathedral Church, is inspired by Cologne Cathedral and is constructed in 1936. It is one of the tallest churches in Asia and is built in Neo Gothic style. The twin spires of the church is about 175 ft tall, which can be spotted from far distance.

Lalitha mahal palace

Jaganmohan Palace

It was constructed by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III in 1861, which served as the official residence of Wodeyars when the official palace was under construction. This place is built in Indian tradition and is now converted in to an art gallery. There are over 2000 traditional paintings that belong to Mysore, Mughal and Shantiniketan styles.

Srirangapatna

Srirangapatna is located mere 15 km from Mysore city and the entire town is surrounded by river kaveri. This island has numerous historic as well religious monuments. The prominent places to visit in Srirangapatna include Sri Ranganthaswamy Temple, Dariya Daulat Palace, Tipu Sultan Gumbaz, Wellesley Bridge, Karighatta viewpoint, Sri Nimishamba Temple, The Garrison Cemetery and The Scott’s Bungalow. Other prominent places are Lord Harris’s House, Srirangapatna fort, Sangama, Bailey’s Dungeon and Ranganathithu bird sanctuary.

Bylakuppe

It is about 90 km from Mysore and is a place provided in Karnataka for Tibetan settlements. The main attractive places in this region are Golden Temple, Ingalakere and some Buddhist monasteries. More than 80000 Tibetans are residing in this area. Nigsargadama, an island which can see while travelling from Mysore to Bylakuppe.
